Aged between 16 and 20? Interested in a thriving future for Warrington?
We need ‘conversation starters’ to speak to family, friends and neighbours about the future of Warrington and shape how our town prepares for climate change.
What matters to you about our town? What makes it unique?
What do you want to keep, change and improve for the future?
How can we make sure the way we tackle climate change makes our town an even better place to live?
We’re looking for 16 young people to have conversations with their friends, family and people in their community about the future of Warrington. We want to learn what’s important to local people and what we should keep and protect as we prepare for the impacts of climate change.
You will come together over four days to take part in training, have conversations in your communities and share back what you're hearing.
The results of your work will influence Warrington’s Climate Emergency Strategy. This will make sure that organisations across Warrington, including the council, focus on what’s important to local people as they work together to prepare for the impacts of climate change.
What’s involved?
Over one Friday evening and three weekend days in November, you will have the opportunity to:
- Meet other people from across the town
- Learn about solutions to climate change
- Get training to have conversations about the future of Warrington
- Speak to friends, family and neighbours about what’s important to them about Warrington
- Share back what you’re hearing with the group
- Work with a local artist to communicate your ideas and present them at a launch event
- Shape how the people across the town prepare for the impacts of climate change
As a thank you for taking part, you will receive £15 per hour up to a maximum of 27 hours, which can be paid in bank transfer or vouchers.
We will also cover reasonable travel expenses and other accessibility or caring needs you might have e.g. childcare costs.
When and where?
All sessions will take place in person at a central Warrington venue on:
- Friday, 1 November 5.30 - 8.00pm
- Saturday, 2 November 10.00am - 4.30pm
- Saturday, 23 November 10.00am - 4.30pm
- Sunday, 24 November 10.00am - 4.30pm
You must be able to attend all sessions in order to apply.
Who can sign up?
Anyone aged 16-20 living in Warrington is welcome to apply. No knowledge or experience is necessary - all training will be provided. Our aim is to bring together a broad mix of 16 young people from across the town.
If you’re not sure if you’re right to apply, please do! We’re keen to hear from people who have never done anything like this before.
Please fill in the short register interest form by midnight on our new deadline of Thursday, 24th October 2024.
Register your interest to take part
Once you’ve completed the form, we will be in touch by Friday, 25th October 2024, to confirm if you've been selected to participate. We want to make sure this opportunity is as accessible as possible, so if you are selected we will be in touch to discuss any support you might need to make sure you are comfortable participating.
