Louise MacAllister

Engagement Lead

Louise joined Involve in November 2021 as Engagement Lead.

Prior to joining Involve Louise worked for the Community Council of Devon where she project managed a variety of community engagement, development, and impact measurement projects and services with local government, enterprise, charities, and publics across rural Devon. Her previous background was in academia; she undertook at PhD at the University of Exeter looking at the ways in which anti obesity policy and discourse becomes enrolled in everyday life. Following her PhD, Louise was the project social scientist on the ‘Hennovation’ project: a cross-European project that sought to develop practice led innovation in agriculture through facilitated multi-actor networks. She also worked on a knowledge co-production project examining how knowledge co-production and engagement is enrolled in novel gene drive technology towards the eradication of malaria.

Outside of work, Louise has extensively campaigned on, and organised around, increasing engagement and transparency in local politics, developing sustainable rural and coastal infrastructure, and protecting the environment. In her spare time, she is a keen outdoor swimmer and is gradually walking the South West Coast Path.
