Claire became a trustee of Involve in 2019. She is Director of the Center-Left Renewal Project at the US-based Progressive Policy Institute, and was Director of Policy to the Leader of the Opposition, Keir Starmer, 2020-22.
Prior to this, she was Executive Director of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, leading JRF’s strategy to inspire action and change to solve UK poverty. Before joining JRF, she worked in the public and voluntary sectors, and for the UK’s largest trade union.
In May 2018 she authored ‘The New Working Class: how to win hearts, mind and votes,’ in which she proposed a public attitudes-led policy-making model to increase public involvement in policy development.
